Shirin Akhtar, 32, and her two daughters Nitu Akhtar, 13, and Khadiza Akhtar, 7, were killed in Netrakona road crash while Jyotsna Begum, 45, and her daughter Shampa Khatun, 20, in Tangail.
In Netrakona, a sand-laden truck ploughed through the house of Shirin at Gozalikanda in Purbadhala upazila around 4:00am as its driver lost control over the steering, said Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Purbadhala Police Station.
The driver of the truck managed to flee the scene immediately after the accident, reports our Netrakona correspondent quoting the OC.
Police seized the truck, which overturned after hitting the room where the mother was sleeping with her two daughters.
Our Tangail correspondent reports, Jyotsna, wife of Abdur Razzak of Falda village in Bhuapur upazila, and her daughter Shampa died on the spot as a covered van rammed a motorcycle around 7:00am.
Amirul Islam Dewan, officer-in-charge of Madhupur Police Station, said Jyotsna and Shampa were going to Madhupur from Bhuapur riding on a hired motorcycle.
As the motorcycle reached at Kathaltoli intersection in Madhupur, a covered van of Navy Cigarette Company hit it from behind, killing them on the spot, the OC said.
Seriously injured motorcycle driver Nazrul Islam, 30, was admitted to the Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, he added.
Police seized the covered van and took it to the police station.
