Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami.
The International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday deferred till April 8 the arguments by lawyers of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami who is facing charges of crimes against humanity.
The tribunal – the first of two set up to deal with such crimes committed during the 1971 Liberation War – came up with the order following Nizami’s counsels’ petition for time.

Munshi Ahsan Kabir, one of the counsels, sought the time as two other defence lawyers were staying abroad.
Nizami was produced before the tribunal during the day’s proceedings.
The Jamaat chief is facing 15 charges for genocide, rape and arson during the Liberation War.
On January 9, the tribunal accepted formal charges against Nizami.
He is among six Jamaat and two BNP leaders facing war crimes charges at the tribunal
